Just down the road from us is a large expanse of open land which is gradually being turned into an arboretum featuring forests from around the world. Most of the trees are only waist high but you can see that it will be very impressive as time goes on and the forests take shape. Today was their annual open day and we all had great fun making and flying our own kites -

A small train provided a bumpy ride around the event area but the kids liked it!
We also caught one of the buses to do a tour of the grounds which included a stop at the Dairy Hill Lookout. It provided an amazing view of Canberra from a perspective we had not seen before as this area is normally off limits during the arboretum's construction -
With the best shot for last -
