It was a slightly warmer weekend when nanna visited compared to when grandma and grandpa came the weekend before. Well it was 2 degrees in the morning instead of -3 so that is almost a heat wave for this time of year! We all visited Parliament House and Sam signed us in so we could go 'behind the scenes'. We even walked past the Prime Minister's office - Kevin Rudd that is, of course a week later he was out of there. We should have taken a photo of his nameplate on the door!
Sam and I had a lovely night away at the Laststop B&B which is only about 20 minutes drive away. It is a unique place to stay as the accommodation is in old converted train carriages. They have been done up really well with the compartments converted to a bedroom and a sitting room whilst utilising some of the original plumbing for the modernised shower area (eg the basin pulls down from the wall and folds back up when finished!).
As a bonus there are lovely views over the valley and some wineries are within walking distance (unfortunately they were not open for our stay but normally they are).
In keeping with the 'heritage' weekend we dined at the nearby Green Herring Restaurant which is in a 150 year old slab hut. The great food and roaring fire were just the thing for a winter's night!
